Escape to the beautiful south of Italy and visit the dynamic city of Naples, the island of Capri and the breathtaking Amalfi Coast.
Departure from the United States on your overnight flight to begin your tour of Tuscany, Rome & the Amalfi Coast.
Upon arrival in Florence, you and your English speaking tour escort will meet your private motorcoach driver for a direct transfer to your 4* hotel in Florence. Relax and make yourself comfortable for the remainder of the day. Meet your fellow travelers and tour leader for dinner tonight at the hotel or at a local restaurant near the hotel (including ½ liter water and ¼ liter wine per person).
Breakfast included at hotel. Depart from your hotel with your English speaking guide for a tour of the magnificent city of Florence – the flourishing center of the Renaissance and the medieval center of Europe’s trade and finance. Highlights include the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge and the city’s main square, the Piazza della Signoria. Here you’ll see the impressive Palazzo Vecchio, the seat of city government beginning in the 14th century. In front of the Palazzo Vecchio is the stunning Neptune’s Fountain. The Loggia dei Lanzi is an open-air sculpture gallery next to the world-renowned Uffizi Gallery. See such Renaissance masterpieces as Perseus With the Head of Medusa and The Rape of The Sabine Women. Head over to the Piazza del Duomo and take in the beauty of the marble facades. The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is the main attraction and its red dome, built by Brunelleschi, defines the Florentine skyline. The Duomo’s bronze Baptistery doors were called the “Gates of Paradise” by Michelangelo. You will be given a ticket that permits entrance to the following parts of the Duomo complex:
Florence Cathedral (Santa Maria del Fiore): completed in the 16th century and currently the 3rd largest church in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Brunelleschi’s Dome: iconic Cathedral dome constructed with red bricks built in 15th century. Visitors are required to climb 463 steps.
Giotto’s Bell Tower: the best example of 14th century Gothic architecture in Florence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors are required to climb 414 steps.
Baptistery: sitting opposite the Cathedral, UNESCO World Heritage Site, from the 11th – 12th century – one of the oldest buildings in Florence, magnificent mosaic ceiling and bronze doors
Crypt of Santa Reparata: from a staircase in the Cathedral’s nave, descend to find the 5th century church that was discovered after an archaeological dig in the 1960’s, originally stood where the present-day Cathedral is and the crypt contains tombs of notable figures such as Brunelleschi.
Museo dell’Opera del Duomo: museum dedicated to the building of the Cathedral and pieces of art it has housed over the centuries, marble, brass and silver statues are beautifully preserved including a set of the original Baptistery doors and Michelangelo’s The Deposition. The 3rd floor opens up to a panoramic terrace with unparalleled views of Brunelleschi’s Dome.
Enjoy a group lunch at a local restaurant (including ½ liter water and ¼ liter wine per person) and after lunch continue your tour of the city and use your Duomo complex ticket at your leisure. The remainder of the day and dinner tonight is at your leisure.

Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and English speaking guide for an excursion to the city of Siena, with a stop at a San Gimignano area winery before returning to Florence. Drive through the picturesque Tuscan countryside to the medieval city of Siena. Your English speaking local guide will show you the city’s seashell shaped main square, Piazza del Campo, famous for its annual horse races called Il Palio. Go on a walking tour of Siena’s historic city center which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its stunning medieval architecture. You’ll also look at the city’s Duomo, the Cathedral of Siena, which is famous for its black and white marble design, intricate mosaics and Gothic façade. The cathedral also houses fine sculptures by Bernini and by a young Michelangelo. Have an enjoyable group lunch at a local restaurant (including ½ liter water and ¼ liter wine per person). Depart for the walled hilltop town of San Gimignano, famous for its amazingly well-preserved medieval architecture and for its location in the middle of Chianti wine country. Stop in the San Gimignano/Chianti area for a unique winery visit accompanied by a wine tasting. Return to Florence and enjoy a group dinner tonight at your hotel or at a local Florentine restaurant (including ½ liter water and ¼ liter wine per person).
Breakfast included at hotel. Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and English speaking guide for a transfer to Rome with stops in Lake Trasimeno and Assisi. Drive through the serene Tuscan countryside into the Italian region of Umbria to Lake Trasimeno, Italy’s 4th largest lake and a beautiful Regional Park. Stop at the Magione Castle, a former pilgrim’s hostel in the 12th century that is now both a winery and the home to the Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of the Knights of Malta. You’ll meet with a wine expert who will explain the wine making process and provide you with a variety of wines to taste, accompanied by a light lunch. Continue with a short drive to the city of Assisi – the home of St. Francis. Upon arrival in Assisi, your English speaking local guide will begin a tour of the Basilica of St. Francis which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Learn about the magnificent frescoes painted by Giotto that depict the life of St. Francis, along with other works by Cimabue, Lorenzetti and Martini. Descend into the crypt that preserves St. Francis’ tomb. The crypt was built after the discovery of St. Francis’ tomb in 1818 upon order by Pope Pius IX. After a few hours in Assisi, relax on your motorcoach as you drive through the Umbrian hills to your final destination – Rome, the Eternal City. Check in to your 4* hotel in Rome and the remainder of the evening and dinner tonight is at your leisure.

Enter the Colosseum, the iconic Roman amphitheater remembered for its ancient gladiator battles. See the Arch of Constantine as you venture over to the Forum, the excavated center of Ancient Rome, to view the ruins of temples, squares and government buildings. Next to the Forum is Palatine Hill, the most central of Rome’s 7 hills, which today is a vast archaeological site showcasing many ruins and ancient palaces of imperial Rome’s nobility (entrances to the Colosseum and the Forum are included with headsets). Enjoy a group lunch at a local Roman restaurant (including ½ liter water and ¼ liter wine per person). The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the Eternal City. Perhaps you’d like to see the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, the Spanish Steps or leisurely shop at the Roman shops. Breakfast included at hotel. Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach for a transfer to Sorrento with a stop in the city of Naples. Relax on your drive down the Autostrade del Sol, the Sun Highway, to Naples – Italy’s 3rd largest city with its historic city center listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, enjoy a Neapolitan lunch at a local pizzeria; followed by coffee at the world famous Caffè Gambrinus. Your English speaking local guide will accompany you on a panoramic tour of this magnificent city. You’ll see the exteriors of the following main sites: the monumental Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the San Carlo Opera, the Galleria Umberto I and the Castel Nuovo – an impressive medieval fortress on the waterfront. Your motorcoach will then take you down the spectacular coast along the Bay of Naples to Sorrento – the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Travel along the sea with unparalleled views of the Mediterranean and the Amalfi coastline. Make a brief stop in Positano – a small town with one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Marvel at the Moorish architecture and charming pastel colored homes. Drive through the gorgeous seaside villages of Praiano, Furore and Conca dei Marini before arriving in the town of Amalfi – famous for its panoramic views and its original handmade paper production. Enjoy a walking tour of the old town including entrance to its beautiful cathedral, Duomo Saint Andrea. Built in the 13th century, the cathedral’s Moorish entrance is atop a steep flight of stairs and contains some of the relics of St. Andrew the Apostle. The cathedral is also known for its secluded cloister – the Cloister of Paradise – a hidden oasis also built in the 13th century. Take the short twisty ride up the mountain to the charming town of Ravello, famously known as a magnet for artists, writers and actors. Drive through Ravello, home to the Villa Rufolo – a timeless architectural wonder that inspired composer Richard Wagner. Continue your drive north to the ancient city of Pompeii – destroyed and covered in volcanic ash in 79 A.D. by neighboring Mt. Vesuvius. Before your tour, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant in the modern town of Pompeii (including ½ liter mineral water and ¼ liter wine per person). Your local English speaking guide for Pompeii will explain how this ancient Roman city was unearthed after extensive excavation work. Take some time to walk the excavated streets and see the amphitheater, thermal baths, houses and temples. You’ll see first-hand how daily Pompeiian life has been frozen in time. Return to your hotel in Sorrento and the remainder of the day and dinner tonight will be at your leisure.
Breakfast included at hotel. Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and driver for a transfer to the Sorrento pier for a full day tour of the island of Capri. Enjoy the morning hydrofoil that takes you across from Sorrento to Capri. Your English speaking local guide will accompany you as you discover the island while riding the public minibuses – non-resident vehicles are banned for most of the year. Travel to the elevated village of Anacapri and bask in its quaint Mediterranean charm. Also, as part of your tour, travel down to the main town of Capri to see the chic shops and restaurants and the famous ‘Piazzetta’ Umberto I. Enjoy some free time to enjoy lunch on your own and further explore the magic of Capri. Perhaps you’d like to admire the colorful Gardens of Augustus that overlook the famous Faraglioni rocks and the Marina Piccola. Return via hydrofoil to Sorrento and your motorcoach will transfer you back to your hotel.
