Day 1Departure

Departure from the US for your overnight flight to start your journey into Bucolic Sicily.

Day 2Palermo Airport - Trapani

Upon arrival in Palermo, you and your English speaking tour escort will join your private motorcoach driver for a direct transfer to your 3*/4* Agriturismo country home or rural hotel in the Trapani area. Relax and make yourself comfortable for the remainder of the day. Enjoy a Welcome Drink and your first Sicilian dinner as a group at your Agriturismo country home or rural hotel.

Day 3Zingaro nature reserve - Erice - Trapani

Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and driver and English speaking guide for a tour of The Zingaro Nature Reserve, Erice and Trapani.
Depart for Scopello in the Zingaro Nature Reserve – a wonderfully protected seaside area where the the only wild palm still in existence in Europe, the Dwarf Palm (chamaerops humilis), abundantly grows. Here you have the possibility of having a walk along the coast (about 3 hours, 9 Km, 310 m altitude). Lunch on your own and continue on to Erice, known as Monte San Giuliano until 1934, at an altitude of approximately 750 m. Views of Trapani, the Aegadian Islands and Monte Cofano from here are breathtaking. Walk through Erice’s narrow streets and admire the Church of Santa Maria dell’Assunta, the massive city walls and the Venus castle ruins. Don’t forget to taste the delicious traditional almond biscuits. A visit to the beautiful seaside city of Trapani ends the day’s program. Day 4Monreale - Palermo - Cammarata

Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and driver and English speaking guide for a tour of Monreale and Palermo. Begin with a stop just outside Palermo to see one of the most important buildings of the Middle Ages – the Cathedral of Monreale and its Benedictine Cloister. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s one of the greatest examples of Norman architecture in Italy. A cultural mix makes Palermo one of the most interesting cities in Europe. Your tour will proceed to the city center where you can see the Palatine Chapel, the Norman Palace, the Palermo Cathedral with its royal tombs, the Martorana Church and the Quattro Canti – the most remarkable intersection in Palermo. See why Forbes magazine has defined Palermo as a Top 10 City for Street Food by walking through one of Palermo’s historic street markets and experience authentic Sicilian delicacies. Perhaps you’ll enjoy some pane, panelle, arancini or countless other specialties as you enjoy lunch on your own. Relax during the final drive to your final stop in the Cammarata area. Day 5Ficuzza - Corleone - Palazzo Adriano - Santo Stefano Quisquina - Cammarata

Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and driver and English speaking guide for a tour of the Sicani Mountains area – Ficuzza, Corleone, Palazzo Adriano and Santo Stefano Quisquina. Drive through the town of Lercara Friddi, birthplace of Frank Sinatra’s father, en route to Ficuzza, where you’ll visit the early 19 th century Royal Hunting Lodge of the Bourbon King Ferdinand I, King of the Two Sicilies. You’ll recognize the name of the next town on your journey, Corleone made famous by Mario Puzo’s novel The Godfather and its classic film adaptation. Your trip continues to Palazzo Adriano, where the Oscar Award winning Italian film, Cinema Paradiso, was filmed. Here you can see the famous market square with its churches, including the Maria SS Assunta of the Greco-Byzantine rite. Then visit the 17 th century Hermitage of Santo Stefano di Quisquina, where Saint Rosalia spent her life during her escape from her family and oppressors. Tonight, enjoy a traditional dinner with local specialties from the Sicani Mountains area.

Day 6Agrigento - Piazza Armerina - Caltagirone

Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and driver and English speaking guide for a tour of Agrigento and Piazza Armerina. Travel to Agrigento – “the most beautiful city of the mortals…” as defined by Pindar and home of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Valley of the Temples. Experience the world of Ancient Greece in Sicily by visiting the Temple of Heracles, Temple of Concordia, Temple of Zeus, Temple of Juno and the Temple of Castor and Pollux. Walk up to the Kolymbetra Gardens, a botanical garden filled with a variety of flora, including numerous local fruit trees. Next, proceed to Piazza Armerina where you’ll visit the Villa Romana del Casale. This UNESCO World Heritage Site houses the largest collection of Roman mosaics in the world. Discovered in the 20 th century, there are more than 3000 square meters of almost perfectly preserved mosaic floor divided amongst 40 rooms. Day 7Caltagirone - Noto - Syracuse - Carlentini

Depart from your hotel with your private motorcoach and driver and English speaking guide for a full day tour of Caltagirone, Noto and Syracuse. Firstly, a drive to the town of Caltagirone which is famous for its ancient and modern pottery making and ceramics. There you’ll visit the monumental staircase of Caltagirone, decorated with the city’s famous ceramic tiles, that leads to the Santa Maria del Monte Church. Then you’ll proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the city of Noto – a beautifully preserved example of the Sicilian Baroque architecture unique to buildings constructed in southern Sicily in the 1700’s. Depart Noto to discover the ancient beauty of the city of Syracuse – the largest and most important city-state in Greek controlled Sicily. There you’ll visit the Neapolis Archaeological Park which has the Latomia of Paradise, the Rope-Makers’ Grotto, the Ear of Dionysius, the Greek Theatre, the Altar of Hieron and the Roman Amphitheater. Then you’ll travel to Ortygia, a small island which is the old town center of Syracuse. On your walking tour, experience the Fountain of Arethusa, the Cathedral of Syracuse and the Temple of Apollo. Day 8Carlentini - Free day at your leisure

Today, you can choose to remain at your hotel and enjoy the swimming pool, walking, riding or another country activity. Perhaps you’d prefer to explore the culturally rich area on your own. You’re only a few kilometers from the following: the archaeological park of Leontinoi, the Archaeological Museum of Lentini and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Necropolis of Pantalica. Also, you can easily reach Italy’s second largest city, Catania, via a 30 kilometer intercity bus ride. We also have one of our optional excursions to Mount Etna and Taormina (€68 per person). Admire the gorgeous views of the Sicilian orange and lemon groves on your drive to Europe’s largest active volcano – Mount Etna. You’ll reach the Silvestri Craters located below the top of Mount Etna at an altitude of about 2000 meters. There’s the opportunity of taking an optional tour of crossing the crater by cable car at an altitude of 2,600 meters or of climbing up to an altitude of 3000 meters in special 4×4 Jeeps. (Cost: about €65.00 per person) In the afternoon, enjoy a visit to the beautiful coastal village of Taormina with its Greek Theatre and picturesque medieval alleys.
