Travel along the Amalfi coastline with unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea. Drive through numerous small towns with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Take the short twisty ride up the mountain to the charming town of Ravello, famously known as a magnet for artists, writers and actors. A visit to Villa Rufolo, a timeless architectural wonder, will inspire you as it once did composer Richard Wagner. Built in the 13th century and restored in the 19th century, its gardens and grandeur have enchanted millions. Another beautiful villa in Ravello is the Villa Cimbrone. The villa is currently a 5* hotel, but its gardens are open to the public. Referred to as the most beautifully designed English gardens in southern Europe, you’ll notice the numerous Classical statues and the famous Terrace of Infinity which will take your breath away. At the end of your Amalfi journey, return to your hotel for free time until dinner at your hotel. After dinner, transfer to a special musical performance that celebrates the life and history of the Sorrento peninsula. Enjoy a welcome cocktail and immerse yourself in the music, dance and costumes that explore two centuries of the region’s history.

Day 4Capri - Sorrento

Breakfast included at hotel. Depart from your hotel for a transfer to the Sorrento pier for an excursion to the island of Capri. “When the red sun sinks into the sea at Capri …” Artists and celebrities appreciated its beauty: Rainer Maria Rilke, Charles Dickens, Greta Garbo, Kirk Douglas, Charlie Chaplin, Grace Kelly. You will visit Villa San Michele, the home and gardens of Swedish physician and author Dr. Axel Munthe: “My house should be open to the sun and the wind and the voices of the sea – like a Greek temple – light, light and light everywhere! “- his very own dream between high culture and kitsch. Stroll through the rooms and over the terraces and let the magic of this place envelop you. Bask in the island’s atmosphere as you travel to the island’s main town, also named Capri. Admire the colorful and terraced Gardens of Augustus, donated by the German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp, that overlook the famous Faraglioni rocks and the Marina Piccola. Enjoy a local lunch in Capri before returning to Sorrento via hydrofoil. After being transferred back to your hotel, the remainder of the day and dinner tonight is at your leisure.

Lunch is on your own before you explore the ancient city of Pompeii – destroyed and covered in volcanic ash in 79 A.D. by neighboring Mt. Vesuvius. A local guide will show how this ancient Roman city was unearthed after extensive excavation work. Take some time to walk the excavated streets and see the amphitheater, thermal baths, houses and temples. You’ll see first-hand how daily Pompeiian life has been frozen in time.
