The purchase or payment of any travel services oﬀered by The Unknown Italy, LLC (“The Unknown Italy”) constitutes a contractual arrangement between the Passenger and/or Travel Agent (all together as “You”) and The Unknown Italy and represents your acceptance of The Unknown Italy’s Terms & Conditions. You acknowledge you are at least 18 years of age and have authority to consent and accept The Unknown Italy’s Terms & Conditions for yourself and all members of your traveling party. You are required to read and acknowledge Terms and Conditions on our website before making any reservation with us. Payment of deposit and/or final payment will be considered as full acceptance of our Terms and Conditions that are fully disclosed on our website.
We do not accept children under 5 years of age on any of our escorted tours. There is no age limit on independent travel or private groups. Certain food and wine tours may have a higher minimum age requirement and will be indicated on our website. Age restrictions apply to car rentals. Policy is set by the car rental company and extra fees may apply. Parents traveling with children are responsible for their behavior during the tour. Children becoming unruly and disrupting the tour are means for expulsion from the tour. Adults traveling with children that are not their own are required to carry a notarized Parental Authorization form from each parent granting authority to the adult traveling with the minor child to take them out of the country. If one parent is traveling with the minor child, a notarized Parental Authorization form is required from the parent not traveling that grants permission to take the minor child out of the country. A copy of the Parental Authorization form must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to arrival in Italy. The original must be shown to the airlines at check-in.
Passengers with disabilities traveling with a wheelchair or motorized scooter must be accompanied by a qualified family member, traveling companion or medical assistant who assumes total responsibility for the well-being of the passenger with disabilities. Our tours travel mostly by motor coach and wheelchairs and motorized scooters cannot be accommodated. If you are traveling with a wheelchair or motor scooter it is the traveler’s responsibility to transport the wheelchair or motor scooter to each destination at the traveler’s expense. Most transportation services, including motor coaches, hotels and sites our tours visit are not equipped with wheelchair ramps. We cannot be held responsible if ramps are not available. If a member of your traveling party will be traveling with a wheelchair we must be notified at the time of booking. Travelers requiring oxygen, diabetic supplies or any medical device is required to advise The Unknown Italy at the time of booking. The Unknown Italy is not responsible for these medical supplies required by the traveler. We reserve the right to refuse any passenger on any of our tours we deem unsafe for passengers traveling with a wheelchair.
We reserve the right to reject any person as a tour participant and to expel from the tour any passenger(s) whose conduct is deemed to be a danger to other travelers, threatening to fellow travelers, drivers or tour escorts, engaging in activities deemed dangerous to fellow travelers or to himself or herself, being disruptive, verbally or physically abusive to fellow travelers, driver, tour escort or to anyone encountered while on the tour, damaging motor coaches, trains, ferries, cruise ships, hotels, sites visited or any person or person’s belongings, theft, failure to follow guidelines and instructions of tour escort including habitually arriving late causing delays to the tours. Any incurred expenses will be charged to the expelled tour passenger(s) and no refund will be given for the balance of their tour. Be advised that if you are expelled from the tour, you are responsible for your own transportation, accommodations, ticket fee changes and any expenses you incur after being expelled from the tour.
A passport valid for 6 months past the return date is required for all travelers, no matter the age. A visa may be required depending on your citizenship. It is the responsibility of the traveler to obtain proper documentation to enter Italy. If proper documentation is not secured, you may be denied entry. The Unknown Italy accepts no responsibility for travelers denied entry and no refund will be granted.
Transportation to/from the airport in arrival and departure cities is included with your tour. If The Unknown Italy secured your flights, we will monitor your schedules and adjust pick-up times accordingly. If you’ve missed your flight or if your flight is delayed or cancelled, it is your responsibility to notify The Unknown Italy as soon as you learn of the schedule change. If The Unknown Italy is not notified of the schedule change, we are not responsible for missed transfers. It will be the traveler’s responsibility to arrange transportation to the start of the tour and no refund will apply for missed transfers. If the traveler purchases their own airline tickets, the airline schedules for all travelers must be forwarded to The Unknown Italy to secure transfers. If The Unknown Italy does not receive airline schedules we cannot be responsible for your transfers and no refund will apply to missed transfers. Travelers will be responsible for securing their own transportation to the start of the tour.
The Unknown Italy reserves the right to substitute hotels listed on the itinerary with a comparable rating. This may occur in cases of hotel remodeling, construction, natural or unnatural disasters or any instance deemed necessary by the tour directors of The Unknown Italy. Bedding types requested during the reservation process are requested but cannot be guaranteed. Rooms requiring a rollaway are on request and at the discretion of the hotel. Hotels have complete control over the room assignments. The Unknown Italy accepts no responsibility for room assignments, views or bedding types.
Please note that special terms & conditions may apply to certain religious tours. Most of these tours have been planned around specific religious holidays or the annual Vatican and Papal schedules. The Unknown Italy is not responsible should these schedules change after tour’s departure. Every effort will be made to operate the tour as planned. Be advised that many religious sites have dress codes that must be adhered to for entry: no exposed knees, midriffs, backs or shoulders allowed for both men and women.
Optional airfare is available for purchase separately through The Unknown Italy. Quoted airfare prices are not guaranteed until airline tickets are purchased. Full names (First Name, Middle Name, Last Name) birthdate and gender must exactly match your passport. Name corrections will incur a fee from the airline. At the time airline tickets are purchased, The Unknown Italy will attempt to assign seats. Not all types of fares allow for advanced seat assignments nor do all airlines assign seats in advance. Airline schedules, as well as seat assignments, are subject to change and are at the discretion of the airlines. The Unknown Italy has no control over airline schedules or seat assignments, except to assign the seats available at the time of booking. Extra fees such as baggage fees, seat assignment fees, airport fees and fuel surcharges may apply. Airline revisions, name corrections and cancellation of airline tickets requested by the traveler will incur a $50 per ticket fee by The Unknown Italy. The fee will be collected prior to any changes or reservations made and is non-refundable/non-transferrable. The Unknown Italy does not book or handle airline frequent flyer reservations, ticketing or changes. By purchasing airline tickets through The Unknown Italy, you acknowledge and agree The Unknown Italy accepts no responsibility for changes in airline schedules and/or seat assignments. All air carriers are operated independently and are not aﬃliated with The Unknown Italy. Airline tickets are a contract between You and the air carrier even if the airline tickets are purchased through The Unknown Italy. You agree and consent to waive all liability against The Unknown Italy for services provided by any air carrier.
A $500 deposit per person is required at the time of booking. We honor most major credit cards and do not accept personal checks. Deposits are made online at the time of booking. Payment of the deposit indicates you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions. Your booking is not confirmed until the deposit has been processed by The Unknown Italy and you receive a confirmation invoice via email. Travelers may pay in full at the time of booking or pay at their leisure using the Manual Payment system. This Manual Payment system will be available up until the final payment due date. Travelers will receive instructions via email on how to make manual payments after the initial deposit is made. The Unknown Italy strongly recommends that every passenger purchase travel insurance. This must be done at the time of booking in order to have complete insurance coverage.
75 days prior to your scheduled departure is when final payment is due.
In some instances, additional deposits and final payments are required due to suppliers’ policies. Passengers will be advised at time of booking of payment requirements. If payment is not received by the stated deadline, The Unknown Italy reserves the right to cancel a booking and will apply the cancellation penalties accordingly. Payments made after the due date are subject to an additional $50 late payment fee.
The $500 deposit per person is fully refundable if you cancel within 72 hours of booking the tour. After 72 hours, the deposit becomes non-refundable and standard cancellation fees apply.
All prices listed on The Unknown Italy website or in any printed materials are in US Dollars. All prices are based on global currency rates, airfare or land costs at the time of booking; therefore, prices are subject to an increase prior to final payment if necessary. Passengers will be notified if a currency fluctuation or an increase in airfare/land cost warrants a price increase prior to final payment. Tours are subject to a minimum number of passengers. Should fewer than 20 participate, passengers will be notified if a price adjustment is necessary.

The Unknown Italy does not own or operate any entity that provides goods or services for your trip, including, for example, lodging facilities, transportation companies, guides or tour escorts, food service providers, equipment suppliers, ground operators, etc., including, without limitation, various entities which may utilize The Unknown Italy name. The Unknown Italy is not responsible for any negligent or willful act or failure to act of any such person or entity nor for any act or inaction of any other third party not under its control. Without limitation, The Unknown Italy is not liable for any direct, indirect, consequential, or incidental damage, injury, death, loss, accident, delay, inconvenience or irregularity of any kind which may be occasioned by reason of any act or omission beyond its control, including, without limitation, any willful or negligent act, failure to act, breach of contract of any third party such as an airline, train, hotel, whether or not it uses The Unknown Italy name, which is, to, or does supply any goods or services for this trip. The Unknown Italy is not responsible for any loss, delay, inconvenience or irregularity of any kind which may be occasioned by reason of any act or omission beyond its control, including, without limitation, any willful or negligent act, failure to act, breach of contract of any third party such as an airline, train, hotel, whether or not it uses The Unknown Italy name, which is, to, or does supply any goods or services for this trip. The Unknown Italy is not responsible for any loss, injury, death or inconvenience due to delay or changes in schedule, overbooking or downgrading of accommodations, insolvency, or default of any third party, attacks by animals, sickness, the lack of appropriate medical care, evacuation to same, if necessary, weather, strikes, acts of God or government, acts of terrorism or the threat thereof, force majeure, war, quarantine, epidemics or the threat thereof, criminal activity, or any other cause beyond its control.
In the case of a government issued warning, we will provide our utmost consideration to the severity of the warning and accomplish everything possible to safeguard the well-being of our passengers. We reserve the right to evaluate each booking on a case-by-case basis for potential refund/cancellation fees, re-scheduling of tours or itineraries and postponements. Be aware that during your participation on tours operated by The Unknown Italy, certain risks and dangers may arise beyond our control, including but not limited to: the hazards of traveling in undeveloped areas; travel by boat, train, automobile, aircraft, or other means of transportation; forces of nature; political unrest; acts of lawlessness or terrorism; and accident or illness in remote regions without means of rapid evacuation or medical facilities. The Unknown Italy assumes no liability regarding provisions of medical care or the adequacy of any care that may be rendered. While The Unknown Italy will use its best eﬀorts to ensure that adequate measures are taken, by agreeing to participate in a tour and/or optional excursions, you agree you will hold The Unknown Italy harmless regarding any provision of medical care or the adequacy of any care rendered. The Unknown Italy is not responsible for such risks and dangers that may arise beyond our control. Payment of your deposit indicates you accept these risks and dangers and agree to hold The Unknown Italy harmless for such.
Payment of deposit and/or issue of final documents shall be deemed your consent to the Terms and Conditions herein. Each passenger understands that The Unknown Italy will be accepting that passenger’s booking in trust upon such passenger’s acceptance of the Terms and Conditions as outlined on our website. Terms and Conditions listed are those in eﬀect at time of writing and will remain until replaced. Any new or re-issue of Terms and Conditions will replace all previous versions. No person, other than an authorized representative of The Unknown Italy is authorized, by a document in writing, to vary, add or waive any term or condition, including any term or condition set forth in the preceding provisions.
Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating in any way to these Terms & Conditions, to this Tour Agreement, or any other information relating in any way to the trip, or to the trip itself shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration in Florida, USA in accordance with the commercial rules of the American Arbitration Association then existent. In any such arbitration, the substantive (but not procedural) law of Florida will apply. The arbitrator and not any federal, state, or local court or agency shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, or formation of this contract, including but not limited to any claim that all, or any part of this contract, is void or voidable.
